Arjuna’s eyes still glisten from the vision of the cosmic form. His heart is filled with awe, but also with tenderness. He has seen Krishna as infinite time, as the devourer of worlds, as the blazing cosmos. Yet in that immensity, he longs for something closer, something that his heart can cling to.
With humility he bows and speaks.
O Krishna, among those who worship You as the formless, the imperishable, and those who worship You in devotion with form and love — who are the greater yogis?
Krishna’s smile is gentle, His voice like soft thunder, carrying warmth that soothes Arjuna’s trembling heart.
Both paths lead to Me, Arjuna. Those who worship the formless, the imperishable, who discipline the senses, who see all beings equally, who live detached and devoted — they reach Me. But the path is difficult, for the mind seeks form, the heart longs for relationship.
Greater still are those who worship Me with love, fixing their hearts upon Me, offering their every act to Me, surrendering their lives in devotion. Such devotees I swiftly lift from the ocean of death and rebirth.
Therefore, Arjuna, fix your mind on Me. Place your intellect in Me. In doing so, you will dwell in Me always, without doubt.
Arjuna’s heart softens. He feels the vastness of the cosmic vision now flow into intimacy, into relationship, into love. Krishna’s words become nectar.
If you cannot fix your mind steadily upon Me, then practice. Train your mind through discipline. If you cannot practice steadily, then work for Me, dedicate your actions to Me. If even this is difficult, then simply surrender the fruit of your actions, act without selfishness, and peace will come.
Krishna pauses, His gaze filled with compassion.
The one who hates none, who is friendly and compassionate, free from possessiveness, free from pride, equal in pain and pleasure, forgiving, content, disciplined, devoted — such a devotee is dear to Me.
He who disturbs none, and is disturbed by none, who is steady in joy and sorrow, who is free of fear, free of restlessness — he is dear to Me.
He who desires nothing, who is pure, skilled in work, detached, unshaken, who surrenders to Me with devotion — he is dear to Me.
He who rejoices in others’ joy, who grieves in their sorrow, who sees all with equal vision, who serves with love, who lives in surrender — such a devotee is dearest to Me.
Arjuna listens, his heart swelling. The vision of the infinite has now become the vision of the intimate. The cosmic Lord who blazed with a thousand suns now speaks as the beloved friend, the eternal guide, the gentle master who embraces the devotee with love.
Krishna concludes, His voice soft yet unshakable.
Therefore, Arjuna, be devoted. Love Me, surrender to Me, serve Me, honor Me. Walk this path of bhakti, and you shall come to Me. Such a devotee is never lost. Such a devotee is eternal.
The battlefield is still. Arjuna’s despair has turned to devotion. He sees that the highest path is not only wisdom, not only action, not only meditation — but love, pure and simple, flowing to Krishna without expectation.
Closing Reflection in Krishna’s Voice
O listener, hear this truth. The world offers many paths — rituals, philosophies, renunciations. All have value, but the simplest, the purest, the greatest is devotion. To love Krishna with heart and soul, to serve without pride, to live without hatred, to see all beings with compassion — this is the highest yoga.
Do not think you are too small, or too weak, or too sinful. Even the smallest offering, even the simplest act, if given with love, is enough. Krishna accepts it. Krishna accepts you.
Therefore, love. Therefore, surrender. Therefore, live as a devotee. For the devotee is never lost. The devotee is eternal.
This is Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion.
