The battlefield stands still, yet within Arjuna the war of questions continues. He has heard of devotion, of surrender, of the royal knowledge and secret. His heart is opening fully to Krishna, and yet a longing remains. He wishes to know how the Lord pervades the universe, how the divine manifests in all forms.
With humility he bows before Krishna.
O Lord, O Supreme One, how shall I know You in meditation? In what forms do You dwell in this vast universe? Tell me, how may I remember You always? Reveal to me Your glories, by which You sustain all creation.
Krishna smiles, His voice rising like the sound of a thousand conches, yet tender as the whisper of the wind.
Arjuna, My glories are endless. No one can fully recount them. Yet I shall reveal to you those manifestations which shine most brightly, that you may know and remember Me in all.
I am the Self seated in the hearts of all beings. I am the beginning, the middle, and the end of all creation. Among the Adityas, I am Vishnu. Among the lights, I am the radiant sun. Among the Maruts, I am Marichi. Among the stars of night, I am the moon.
Arjuna’s eyes widen as he beholds the poetry of truth. Krishna’s voice rolls onward, each word a thunderbolt of realization.
Among the Vedas, I am the Sama Veda. Among the gods, I am Indra. Among the senses, I am the mind. Among living beings, I am consciousness itself.
Among the Rudras, I am Shiva. Among the Yakshas and Rakshasas, I am Kubera. Among the Vasus, I am Agni, the fire. Among mountains, I am Meru, unshakable and vast.
Among priests, I am Brihaspati. Among generals, I am Skanda, the god of war. Among bodies of water, I am the ocean.
Arjuna listens in awe as the battlefield itself seems to echo with these revelations.
Among great sages, I am Bhrigu. Among words, I am Om, the eternal syllable. Among sacrifices, I am japa, the silent repetition of sacred names. Among immovable things, I am the Himalayas.
Among trees, I am the sacred Ashvattha, the eternal banyan. Among divine sages, I am Narada. Among Gandharvas, I am Chitraratha. Among perfected beings, I am Kapila, the sage of wisdom.
Among horses, I am Ucchaihshravas, born of the churning ocean. Among elephants, I am Airavata, the majestic. Among men, I am the king who rules with dharma.
Among weapons, I am the thunderbolt. Among cows, I am Kamadhenu, the wish-fulfilling. Among serpents, I am Vasuki. Among nagas, I am Ananta, the endless one.
Among beings of water, I am Varuna. Among ancestors, I am Aryaman. Among controllers of justice, I am Yama, the lord of death.
Among Daityas, I am Prahlada, the devoted child. Among measures, I am time itself, consuming all. Among beasts, I am the lion. Among birds, I am Garuda, the eternal mount.
Among purifiers, I am the wind. Among warriors, I am Rama, wielder of the bow. Among fish, I am the shark. Among rivers, I am the Ganga, sacred and eternal.
The words flow unending, like waves of divine revelation. Arjuna’s heart is overwhelmed with awe, for he sees Krishna everywhere, in everything.
Krishna’s voice grows deeper, like the rumble of infinite skies.
Arjuna, I am the beginning, the end, and the middle of all. Among sciences, I am the knowledge of the Self. Among disputants, I am just reasoning. Among letters, I am A, the first. Among compound words, I am the union. I am inexhaustible time. I am the sustainer of all.
I am death that devours all, and the source of all that is yet to be. Among feminine qualities, I am glory, prosperity, speech, memory, intelligence, steadfastness, and forgiveness.
Among hymns, I am the Brihatsaman. Among meters, I am the Gayatri. Among months, I am Margashirsha. Among seasons, I am spring, the bringer of flowers.
I am the gambling of the cunning, the brilliance of the brilliant, the strength of the strong. I am victory, I am effort, I am the sattva of the sattvic. Among the Vrishnis, I am Krishna. Among the Pandavas, I am Arjuna. Among sages, I am Vyasa. Among poets, I am Ushana.
Arjuna feels his heart surge. To be named, to be recognized — yet he knows it is not his pride, but the eternal that speaks through Krishna.
Krishna’s voice becomes vast and infinite.
I am the rod of discipline. I am the law of those who seek victory. I am silence among secrets. I am wisdom among the wise.
Whatever is glorious, whatever is beautiful, whatever is powerful — know it to spring from a fragment of My splendor. But what need is there, Arjuna, for all this detail? With a single fragment of Myself, I pervade and support this entire universe.
Arjuna bows his head, overwhelmed by the majesty of these revelations. He sees Krishna everywhere — in sun and moon, in fire and water, in mountain and river, in lion and eagle, in word and silence, in beginning and end. His heart fills with devotion, for he knows he is never apart from the Lord.
Closing Reflection in Krishna’s Voice
O listener, know this. Whatever power you see, whatever brilliance dazzles, whatever beauty stirs your soul — it is Krishna. It is the eternal Lord, manifest in countless forms, sustaining all, guiding all, pervading all.
Do not be blinded by appearances. See the divine in all. See Krishna in the taste of water, in the warmth of fire, in the vastness of the ocean, in the wisdom of the sage, in the courage of the warrior. See Him in your own heart.
This is Vibhuti Yoga, the yoga of divine glories. By remembering these manifestations, the mind is fixed upon the Lord, and devotion flows unbroken.
